Adam Casey

Dr Adam Casey is a polymath whose career in the Creative Arts spans across music production, composition, sound design, music performance, writing and academia.

Adam has been writing, recording and performing his original music internationally for 18 years.

Through both his recorded music and live performance, he conjures a powerful focus on audience communion and engagement with our natural world.

Adam has performed extensively throughout the USA, Europe and Australia, most notably, at the Sydney Opera House (AU), The Spiegeltent (AU, pictured), The Paradise Rock Club (Boston, USA), Glasslands (NY, USA), Roodkapje (Rotterdam, NL) and de Spot (Middelburg, NL).

Adam’s main musical projects have included The Boy Who Spoke Clouds, Seascapes of the Interior, Trappist Afterland, Casey Bebenek, broeder Dieleman, and, current/future releases will be issued under ‘Adam Casey & the Liminal Choir’ and ‘photo(sphere)’.

Adam is a well known producer and recording/mixing/mastering engineer who runs The True Vine Recording studio, nestled in the leafy inner-east of Melbourne, Australia.

Since opening in 2012, Adam has accrued more than 100 credits for various releases all over the world.

Adam has been a sound designer for several theatre and dance productions over the years, and, also composes for film and art installations.

Adam has been a higher education educator for 20+ years working across several Melbourne based tertiary institutions such as RMIT, Deakin University, Victoria University and, presently, as the Head of Program of the Master of Creative Industries program at Melbourne Polytechnic.

After receiving first class honours (Literary Studies) at Victoria University in 1999, Adam completed his PhD (Creative Writing) at Deakin University in 2009.

Adam’s research interests lie within the creative industries, creative practice, applied research as an art generating mechanism, and, representations of traumatic experience in art.
